Nora Looby Profile
Nora was born in County Sligo in the Republic of Ireland on the 3rd January 1988.She attended the Racing Academy & Centre of Education in County Kildare. After graduating in 2005, Nora joined Michael Grassicks yard at the Curragh, where she spent the next three years. After this she joined David Carrol in New Orleans, where she stayed three months, before moving to the North of England in 2008 to join Karl Burke, and she worked here for approximately one year. Nora then joined Mel Brittains yard where she stayed for six months, and on the 23rd October 2009,celebrated her first winner, bringing home the 16/1 shot Steel Stockholder in the final race in the UK Hands & Heels apprentice series at Doncaster. Moving to Alan McCabes and while in her current position, in June 2010 she rode two big priced winners, first 20/1 Glenluji at Ayr for trainer Jim Goldie and then went on to Redcar the following evening to cause a major upset when bringing home the 100/1 outsider Crianza for Nigel Tinkler. Nora still claims the 7lb apprentice allowance and has ten wins to her name, three of which, coming in 2012. Hopefully this very good start to the year will be a catalyst for more race riding opportunities in the future.
