Una Bella Cosa provided Averham Racing Syndicates and her owners with her first placed finish when finishing 3rd at Southwell this afternoon.
Bella was quickly into her stride, and under an enterprising ride by Franny Norton, her jockey,led the race for over 5f before being headed by the short priced favourite and eventual winner Lilac Lace, a horse 19lb higher in the handicap than her. This was a fine effort from Bella who is bred for much further than the 7f she ran today, but who ran on to the line to finish only three and three quarter lengths behind the winner and a full 9 lengths clear of the fourth placed horse and the remainder of the field.
